Aloft Palm Jumeirah: Designing for Dubai’s iconic island

Situation

Dubai is famous for the quality and extravagance of its hospitality. Starwood, owners of the Aloft brand, sought the help of LWA to deliver a standard of design that would match the opulent surroundings of the Aloft Palm Jumeirah hotel. Starwood also wanted LWA to create a dynamic hotel lobby which would generate a vibrant atmosphere.

The hotel itself is located on the outer ring of the famous Palm Jumeirah, the artificial palm-shaped archipelago in Dubai. An iconic landmark, ambitious and spectacular: LWA had to ensure their interior designs were equally as breath taking.

Outcome

The client wanted sought to make an impact - the hotel’s rooftop bar and terrace, designed by LWA, is sensational! We can’t take credit for the spectacular downtown Dubai skyline; however, LWA did succeed in taking full advantage of the hotel’s environment. Slight adjustments were made to Aloft’s traditional New York loft style with touches of beach luxury added to the design. Drift-wood and turquoise colours complimented the spectacular, ocean views.

We achieved the client’s wish for a vibrant hotel lobby by including a pool table, TV wall and “recharge area”. The recharge area enables guests to help themselves to ready-made sandwiches and drinks: an invitation to make themselves comfortable in their “home from home”.
