Radisson BLU Mogan: Grand designs on Gran Canaria

Situation

LWA were approached by Radisson BLU in 2015 to create the look, feel and ambience of this high-end hotel. It needed to be a hotel which appealed to guests of all types, from young families to couples and friends. The hotel had been constructed with some eye-catching features that LWA needed to compliment with the interior’s design.

Outcome

Taking inspiration from volcanos, the hotel’s architect designed hugely impressive skylights for the hotel lobby. A mesh which lay over the skylights created an interesting pattern of shadows in the lobby’s interior which was enhanced by our minimal design for the lobby. We didn’t want to overwhelm guests with too much visual detail; neither was it right to compete with the hotel’s stand-out feature.

LWA also succeeded in creating a multifunctional events room which could be used, amongst other things, as a cinema, live performance venue or bar. The flexible interior design and uncluttered furnishings meant that the room could be adapted quickly and eailsy depending on whether it was to be used for an aerobics session for seniors or a magic show for kids!
